We had a super time on this trip from 20th May to 24th May with Rooster Bike Tours. Right from the completion of our booking, Tom was always available on WhatApp for queries/clarifications etc – both before we left Ireland and when we were at the Lake. He provided an excellent package of information which included good restaurants from cheaper ones to more premium ones. All the hotels pre-booked were top class. Luggage transferred seamlessly each day. We have hired bikes on many holidays but the bikes we took from Kultur-Radle in Konstanz (as part of our Rooster Bike Tour Booking) were top class with water proof panier bags supplied. We probably should have booked an 8 day trip because we were able for a few more days on the bike but we did rent bikes near the Rhine Falls (on our own bat) after the Rooster tour. I joined this tour as a beginner cyclist and wasn’t sure what to expect. To my surprise, it was easier than I imagined, and incredibly rewarding. Ciara’s patience when explaining the route options was so appreciated—I felt confident from day one. Highlights for me included ferry crossings and the incredible views from Melk Abbey. Plus, I ate enough strudel to last me a lifetime! This trip made me fall in love with cycling, and I’ll be back for more.

We had a great time. Organisation was good, we had perfect weather, mostly sunny, no rain. The cycling paths are very good and easy to find. The accommodations were good and most of the times very good. All together we had a very nice biking holiday.

The Scottish Highlands are stunning, and this bike tour really showcases them. The routes were well-planned, and highlights like Glenfinnan Viaduct and Fort Augustus were incredible. The bikes were high-quality, but I felt the GPS could have been more accurate—I got a bit lost once or twice. There were some diversions on the route that weren’t reflected on the GPS file. In saying that, Tom was available by phone and quickly set me back on track. Overall, a great tour with minor room for improvement.

We had a lovely time on this trip! The accommodations were all clean and comfortable with kind hosts. Tom was super helpful with any questions we had, right down to navigating the trains in and out of Paris. We could not have done the trains without his help. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour in the Loire Valley of France booked through ‘Roosters’. We were two couples on an Independent Tour. Our detailed on-line map took us past most of the attractions to see along the way, from Chateaux’s to biking through lovely villages and many other wonderful places to visit. Outstanding! The hotels, the bike hire company, the support through WhatsApp and the navigation app (took me a bit to get used to) were fantastic. I travelled on my own and would highly recommend 1. I only tried 2 of the restaurant recommendations as there were so many options but where I tried were authentic although not used to solo women travellers. Let’s get cycling!! I felt a great sense of accomplishment after this trip. Even though it was rated “gentle,” I had to push my bike up some of the hills! There is definitely a fair amount of mountain biking on this trip. I would recommend renting the mountain e-bike if you are not used to climbing hills. Make sure to request a mirror for safety. I especially loved riding along the Caledonian Canal and stopping to view the sites or chat with hikers. I may search for future “canal rides,” as they seem to be more my speed. The accommodations were comfortable, and the breakfasts were excellent. The guest house hosts and hotel staff were friendly and generous. We had a great time.

Most were charming and clean, but one felt quite dated, with an uncomfortable bed that left me sore for the next day’s ride. David from Rooster Bike Tours was understanding when I mentioned it and said they’d look into replacing that accommodation for future tours. Despite that, the Danube Cycle Path was beautiful, and the cycling itself was a joy.

Absolutely killer logistics. We just did a self guided Scottish Highlands tour and it was flawless. One way you can tell they are good is that whenever we showed up somewhere and said we were with Rooster it brought out the big smiles. Communication was excellent with spot-on local knowledge and gentle warnings as events in front of us unfolded. The route took us through a huge unrelated event but we knew what was coming and it only added to the adventure.

This tour was an excellent way to explore Scotland’s Highlands, with highlights like Urquhart, Fort Augustus, and the serene Loch Ness. The bikes were comfortable and well-maintained, and the accommodations were generally good. My only gripe was that some routes felt a little too ambitious our skill level—I wish there had been more information about the difficulty upfront and we would have booked e-bikes instead. Tom was helpful in suggesting ways to pace ourselves, but we still felt a bit overwhelmed at times. Despite a few difficulties, we came away with amazing memories and a deep appreciation for Scotland’s wild beauty.

Cycling from Porto to Lisbon was pure magic! The route was a mix of rugged coastal paths, rolling hills, and serene beaches. Rooster Bike Tours thought of everything, from detailed maps to perfectly chosen accommodations. My favorite moment was stopping in Nazaré to watch the enormous Atlantic waves. Each evening ended with fresh seafood and local wines. The experience was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. I can’t wait to book my next tour!

I am in my 70’s and a first time solo cyclist. I was looking for a leisurely ride on Portugal’s Atlantic coast. From start to finish I felt supported by Rooster Bike Tours. In good time before the ride they sent an easy-to-read daily schedule, with thoughtful suggestions about getting to and from the airport and the ferry ride I would need to take, addresses and phone numbers for the interesting guest houses they had booked.  The rental bike was in excellent condition. Rooster was an attentive WhatsApp call away at any moment if I ran into trouble and needed help. My only anxiety was about depending on the offline map app, and I’ve flagged getting an easy to understand video tutorial made for someone clueless like me. Now I know I can do it with Rooster’s help, I’ll do it again.

I never thought I’d enjoy cycling so much. My partner and I took this trip for a change of pace, and it delivered. We laughed at how many pastries we ate “for energy” but still managed to reach Vienna on schedule.

I was nervous about going solo, but the Danube Cycle Path made me feel safe the entire way. Cycling through the Wachau Valley was pure bliss, with rows of sunlit vineyards and the smell of apricots in the air. The best moment? A surprise wine-tasting detour in Dürnstein—I couldn’t resist! Tom from Rooster Bike Tours gave me excellent tips on what to see. If you’re even slightly adventurous, this trip is a must.

A fantastic tour through the Highlands! The views of Ben Nevis and Loch Ness were epic. My only complaint was that one of the accommodations in Invergarry felt a bit outdated compared to the others. However, the cycling itself was top-notch, and David’s route advice was spot on. I’d definitely recommend this to others but hope for a bit more consistency.

I can’t imagine a better way to explore Portugal’s Atlantic Coast than by bike. From the stunning cliffs near Sintra to the quiet beauty of the rural paths, each day brought something new. Tom at Rooster Bike Tours was so helpful, answering all my questions and ensuring everything went smoothly. The GPS provided was flawless, and the luggage transfers made it stress-free. Everything about this trip seemed to go as smoothly as possible. Tom was very helpful and kind when setting it up and communicating through the process. The trip itself felt as though I was riding through a storybook setting. The bed-and-breakfasts were very hospitable and charming.. Woodside Inn in Lewiston was our favorite. They even took her bags up into our room. Which was so kind after a long day of riding. If you were to do this trip in September, I would suggest bringing very warm gloves as ours got wet and cold.

What an amazing way to explore Portugal! The Atlantic Coast route from Lisbon to Porto was packed with unforgettable moments. The scenery was breathtaking, from golden beaches to rugged cliffs. The highlight for me was stopping in Coimbra to experience its historic charm and vibrant atmosphere. Rooster Bike Tours handled all the logistics perfectly—the bikes were comfortable, the GPS was reliable, and the accommodations were well chosen. This was a cycling adventure I’ll be recommending to everyone I know.

My husband and I completed the 7-Day Self-Guided Danube bike tour in May. We had an incredible time. The folks at Rooster Bike Tours were very receptive to our questions and always got back to us in a timely matter. The material that they provided before our trip was extensive. Not only did we receive excellent navigational instructions but hightlights of places to see along our route as well as restaurant suggestions in each town we stayed. All of our lodgings were spacious (which in Europe is not always the case). The scenery on our route was stunning. Our bikes were in excellent condition too! All in all- I am already looking ahead to other self-guided tours we can take with Rooster in the future!

This trip was life-changing. I wanted to challenge myself physically and connect with nature, and the Scottish Highlands bike tour delivered. The routes were carefully planned, with amazing views at every turn. Cycling along Loch Ness in the early morning mist felt like something out of a fantasy novel. Ciara’s thoughtful planning ensured I never felt lost or overwhelmed, even riding by myself. The accommodations were cozy and perfectly situated for relaxing after a day of cycling. I’ve never felt more accomplished or more at peace than I did on this tour.

I wasn’t sure I could handle a self-guided Scottish Highlands bike tour, but this was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. The Glenfinnan Viaduct literally took my breath away, and the ride through Loch Linnhe felt like something out of a movie. Ciara’s encouragement and clear directions made all the difference. Highly recommend—even for less experienced cyclists!

We had a fantastic short trip and would love to return one day to do some more. Our e-bikes were ideal, accommodation was exceptional. The scenery was spectacular and guidance excellent. We managed some great riding and swam in the lake on most days. Rooster Bike Tours made it so easy for my family of four. My kids were thrilled by the ferry crossings, and I loved how many ice cream stops we made along the way! This was my first cycling tour, and it won’t be my last! Rooster Bike Tours made the whole process seamless. The Atlantic Coast scenery was unforgettable, from charming coastal towns to the dramatic cliffs at Cabo da Roca. I especially loved stopping for a coffee and pastel de nata at the small bakeries along the way. The daily distances were manageable yet gave me a sense of accomplishment. The team’s attention to detail was fantastic.

We had a great time. The route took us along the beautiful coast for several days and inland to Coimbra on the last day. Most days there were places along the route to stop to get a light lunch. Other days we picked up food at the start for a picnic along the way. Baggage pickup/delivery was flawless. Accommodations were convenient and comfortable.

I joined a group of friends on this Scottish Highlands bike tour, and it was an unforgettable experience. The route was well-planned, and the scenery was stunning—from the Glenfinnan Viaduct to the shores of Loch Linnhe. I particularly loved the quiet moments cycling along the Caledonian Canal. Ciara recommended a fantastic pub in Fort Augustus where we had the best fish and chips. The bikes were comfortable and easy to handle, even for someone like me who doesn’t cycle often. I’m already looking forward to booking another adventure.

This was my first bike tour, and the Scottish Highlands didn’t disappoint. The scenery was incredible, especially Loch Ness and Loch Linnhe. However, I found the GPS directions a bit finicky at times, which slowed me down. Also the trails were a bit more challenging than I was expecting. My tour was classed as moderate but at times was pushing into the difficult bracket. All in all, it was a fantastic trip with a few minor frustrations.

All went to plan. Very well organised and supported. Enjoyed the variety of accommodation. Tom was responsive and very helpful when required.
